[From our own Correspondents}. London, Feb. 27. The Hon. Saul Samuels, C.M.G., Agent-General for New South Wales in London, was to-day presented to the Queen, at Windsor, by the Right lion. Earl Spencer, Lord President of Council. Her Majesty accepted an album of Colonial drawings from Mr Maxwell. In the House of Commonsthis evening, a suspension of the orders of the day having been agreed to, Mr Gladstone brought on a motion of which lie gave not ice on the 20th inst., and which takes the form of a message to the House of Lords, dissenting in terms already telegraphed from its action in appointing a select committee to enquire into the working of the Irish Land Act. The Pre •mier made a lengthy speech in support of the motion, and on resuming his seat was followed by Mr Gibson, Q.C., At-torney-General for Ireland in Earl Beaconsfield’s Administration, who moved the “ previous question,” and addressed the House in opposition to Mr Gladstone’s motion. The debate was adjourned till to-morrow.

Vienna, Feb. 2G. Telegrams are to hand announcing that severe and general fighting is prevailing throughout Herzegovina between tb.e insurgents and the Austrian troops, and several encounters have taken place, resulting in the defeat of the insurgents, large numbers of whom are now in great distress and homeless. One thousand refugee insurgents have fled from the scene of hostilities, and have forcibly entered Montenegro to obtain food and shelter. Melbourne, Feb. 28. Passengers and others by the Mirzapore, who have suffered from smallpox, but are now convalescent, will be released from quarantine to-day. Mr Bliss, who was injured at the railway accident which occurred at Jolimont last August, has been awarded £2,500 damages. The cricket match between the All England Eleven and 11 of Victoria was resumed to-day. The Englishmen commenced their 2nd innings, requiring 57 runs to win the match, and succeeded in putting them together for the loss of only two wickets.
