POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB.
The settling in connection with the above Club’s annual race meeting took place on Thursday evening last, at the Masonic Hotel, which during the evening presented quite a lively appenrance. As far as we can learn the settling up was very satisfactory, both lor the bookmakers and the general public. The Club, after paying stakes and all expenses, will have close on £3OO to their credit, which is not so bad considering the scarcity of money in the district and the dullness of the times. The following are the amounts paid away to the winners of the different events:—
£ s. d. J. Ellis ... 140 2 6 AV. Bronghton 92 19 6 AV. Tatbaiu... ... 65 0 0 G. Hislop ... 49 17 6 G. Bnmnncl... ... 28 10 9 AV. Bailey ... 18 0 0 AV. 1‘rn‘litt ... 9 10 0 A. McDonald 6 16 0 D. Page 5 1 6
