Cary’s Opera Troupe.

The Pirates of Penzance was reproduced by Cary.s Opera Troupe in the Acadamy of Music, on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with increased admiration of the merits of the performers. Miss Lena Robinson won fresh laurels in her impersonation of Mabel, and Master George Williams, as Frederick, lias advanced in public favor. His rendition of “ Dreaming” being encored nightly with great fervor. Master Willie Cary—a regular chip off the old block—continues to act the Pirate King to the life, being letter perfect, and well up to his stage business. Miss Lizzie Schierlike, as Ruth ; Master Peterson, as Samuel ; and Master Ernest Wyatt, as Major-General Stanley, were very good ; and whatever shortcomings there were, were not so pronounced as to mar a very pleasant performance. Master Harry Smith was favored with an encore in his celebrated song “ When a Felon,” while “ Baby Robinson ” came in for a good share of public approbation. The favorite airs “ Poor Wandering Ones,” the Prayer Scene, and “ With all our Faults ” were warmly received, and if encores were not frequent, the applause was warmly bestowed.

As will be seen by advertisement, an entirely new bill is up for to-night and Friday, when an equally attractive Opera will be placed on the boards. Chilperie is too wellknown to require special notice at our hands ; and we are sure that under Mr Cary’s guidance it will be mounted so as to secure an overflowing house. To-morrow night is set apart for theprma donna's benefit, who will share the honors of the occasion with Master Willie Cary. We need hardly draw attention to this matter, for the conspicuous merits of these two youngsters will have be<*n as keenly observed by the audience as ourselves. Besides the Opera, Captain Isherwood, the instrumental leader of the orchestra, wii! execute one of his artistic fantasias on the violin, which, in itself, will be no ordinary treat ; and Miss Lena Robinson, who is held to ba a most graceful and finished step-dancer, wi.l perform a pas seal, which, together with other items in the programme, should warrant a full heuse.

On Saturday night, 11. M.S. Pinafore will be the closing performance of the season, prior to the Company’s departure for Auckland ; and wc s !, all be surprised if the audience is not both large and appreciative.
