Catholic Bazaar.
A Bazaar, under the auspices of the Catholic Church members in Gisborne, took place in McFarlane’s Hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings last. The attendance and patronage were not so large as might have been expected ah this festive season of the year, but the success of the undertaking was none the less pronounced.
The following ladies presided at the stalls : — On one side Mrs O’Meara and Mrs Henderson, who were assisted by Mrs Orr, the Misses O’Meara [2], and Schultz [2], together with Misses Townley, Skeet, and Lysnar. On the other side were Mrs Edward O’Meara, Mrs Butler, and Mrs Haughey, assisted by the Misses O’Meara and Miss Crawford. The refreshment stall by Mrs Maher, assisted by Mrs Stagpoole and Miss Maher.
Mr. P. McFarlane’s band was in attendance every evening, and enlivened the proceedings with some excellent music.
The Bazaar was continued last night, but we have not learnt the result.
