The administration of the Wills of pedons who by appointing the Public Trustee a» heir executor secure the guarantee of the itate for the due fulfilment of their Wish es> nd (avoid the risk consequent on the apointment of private persons as executors, s-ho not unfrequently, though earnestly dcirous of acting for the benefit of parties interested, fail to carry out legally the ob* jects for which they were appointed, and consequently involve themselves and those whose interests they are striving Co protect in costly and harassing litigation.

The administration of all estates of which no disposition has been made by will, whenever relatives do not wish to incur the responsibility of administration, or cannot from any ofcuse obtain the necessary powers to act. In such cases it is the duty of the Public Trustee to discharge all legal debts as far as the assets extend, and divide the residue amongst the next of kith 4. The administration of the estates of lunatics, lunatic patients, aud convicts. 5. The charge of all lands lying waste and unoccupied of which the owner is unknown, or who has been absent from the Colony for ten years, having left no known agent.
