The electors are asked to meet Mr. Gannon to-night in the Roseland Hall, and afterwards at Pakirikiri. Mr Gannon has had two successful meetings, one at Patutahi, and the other at Tologa Bay, at both of which he is reported to have received assurances of support. The Horticultural Show has been postponed on account of the weather, until some day next week, of which due notice will be given.

It will be seeu by referring to our advertising columns, that Mr Allan McDonald will address the electors of Ormond, and the surrounding districts, this evening, in Bruce’s Hall, at 7.30 p.m. By advertisement elsewhere it will be seen that an entertainment is on the boards to assist Mr John Day and his family who have been laid up with fever for some time past. The object is a deserving one ; and the fact that Mr John Bourke’s name is appended to the advertisement is a sufficient guarantee that a good programme will be put in hand. Intelligence came to hand yesterday of another downfall of Mr W. L. Rees’s airy schemes. His motion for a new trial in the celebrated case Rees v. Barker has been disallowed, each party to pay his own costa. This practically leaves Mr Barker in possession of the field, and gives him a right over [the Whataupoko Block until his claims are satisfied. It is understood now that there will be no new trial, and Mr Finn, acting for MiBarker, has notified to his witnesses to that effect.
