AN OLD ENEMY WITH A NEW PHASE.

Mr. A. W. Bbomfeld, not quite unknown in Gisborne, tries his ’prentice hand at newspaper working: —From the Bay of Plenty Times we learn that a meeting of “ the promoters of a new newspaper for Tauranga ” was convened by circular to be held in the Star Hotel, at 2 p.m., to-day. The circular was signed “A. W. Bromfield, sec. pro. tern." The large room in the hotel had been specially prepared for the meeting, and our reporter having received a circular, put in an appearance at the hour named. After waiting for over half an hour, the “ meeting ” was adjourned, as the only “ promoter ” present was Mr. A. W. Bromfield, the “ secretary yiro. tern, of the proposed newspaper company.”
