October 25. The prospectus of the Westport Colliery Company, New Zealand, hasbeen issued here ; shares amounting to £25,000 are offered for application. The coaling steamer Balclutha, from Melbourne to Sydney, is missing. She had seventeen passengers and crew on board. Sydney, October 25. Five fresh cases of small pox have been repor}ed to the Boarp of Health to-day. Adelaide, Oct. 26. A scene occurred in the Legislative Assembly last night, owing to Mr. Ebenezer Ward ref .sing to obey the Speaker’s ruling. The hon. member was finally removed from the chamber by the Sergeant-at-Arms. London, Oct. 24.

A meeting was held to-day at Hyde Park. Resolutions were passed denouncing the coercive measures now being adopted by the Government in Ireland. It is estimated that 50,000 persons were present. The proceedings were of an orderly character. Paris, Oct. 24. Telegrams to-day from Tunis announce that a large force of French troops has been despatched against the Arab insurgents .at Kairwan, which is now the focus of rebellion. The French column is now reported to be nearing its destination, and it is expected that the troops wjll shortly attack the rebels in full force. Washington, Oct. 25 Mr. Blaine Secretary of State has issued an official circular in which he announces that the Government insist that the Uuited States should have complete political control of the Panama Canal, and adding that the Government will deem any European intrusion unfriendly.
