PRIZE CONUNDRUM.
Wanted to find the person who can explain the following, delivered by Mr. A. McDonald at the WAiroa meeting:—“ He had been accused in the papers, by a telegram from Gisborne published in the paper the other morning, of saying in reply to Mr. Gannon at the meeting in Gisborne, that he would support any Government. He did not sag so 11 ! What he said, and would say again, was that he would stick to his party to the last. He had been accused of leaving Sir George Grey and going over to Mr. Hall (cries of “oh.”) He did not do so 1I I Mr. Macandrew and Sir George Grey stuck to him well, and he would still stick to his party. He could not, however, sacrifice his district for any party. If the party he went with brought in measures he did not consider good for the country, he would leave the party. He would never leave his party, and never did ! ! !
