Forester’s Ball.
The usual festive gathering of the Court William Gladstone 6030 Lodge of the Ancient order of Foresters was held in McFarlane’s Hall on Wednesday evening last, when a most successful ball was held—one of the few which take place, nowadays, in Gisborne. There were some fifty couples present, —including Mr Allan McDonald M.H.R. and His Worship the Mayor. The hall presented a most pleasing tout ensemble, being decorated with great taste with flags and insignia of the Order.
The music, par excellence, was supplied by members of the Battery J
Band, under bandmaster Faram, and gave general satisfaction. The catering for creature comforts was entrusted to Mr. James Craig, who kept his ancient reputation in that line.
The programme was finished about 4 a.m., when a general dispersion took place, and all delighted with their night’s enjoyment.
