LONDON SEED TRADE. Messrs. John Shaw & Sons, of 37 Mark Lane, London, E.C., report through their agent, Mr. Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that during the fortnight ending August 11th, there was decidedly more business doing, though so far as clovers, etc., were concerned, it was, of course, merely speculative, and was induced by the disappointing accounts given of the new crops. In red; clover there was a good deal done, consequently stocks were reduced to the most meagre proportions; as a result of these sales, prices have advanced several shillings per cwt. White clover and alsyke were gradually becoming more firmly held, as more news were circulated as to the new crops, which promise to turn out considerably under those of last year. There has been a great demand for Italian rye grass, the latest reports of the crop being extremely unfavorable. There is little known, so far, of Perennial rye grasses, but appearances are against a large crop. Scotch turnip seeds were not to be had ; they were so scarce, that the few holders of them would not sell, unless with other things, and then only at very exorbitant prices. ....
