Byrne answered with 29, 35, and 14, each containing some capital strokes; but Weiss led into the sixth hundred, the game being 605 to 599. The break of the evening was then made, as Byrne, after getting a few losing hazards, got on to the spot stroke, which he made 22 times, and scored 86, the game being Byrne 686, Weiss 620. Shortly after Byrne put 35 together, and the game stood 727 to 665. By small breaks on the part of each the score was advanced, and it was called —Byrnp, 835, Weiss 733. The latter; pulled up .considerably in the next hundred, and at Byrne’s 900 fie was 868. Stjll improving his position, Weiss had reached 931 wlien Byrne was 947. Both played very cautiously, Weiss with slightly the worse luck, till the game stood—Byrne 979, Weiss 960. The former then got possession of the ball and ran the game out, therefore, beating his opponent by 40 points, after a very well contested game. There was a very large attendance, and the proceedings were conducted in the most orderly manner.
