The C.M.G. Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Society met the other night to discuss —“ Which is more advantageous, the single or the married state ?” The debate went on with great spirit for about two hours, and just as a speaker was making an impassioned oration in favor of the single state,” a lady in a red shawl, goloshes, marched up to the orator and exclaimed—“ Henery I I thought you was at the ‘ pub ’ but this ’ere’s worsen Come ’ome, you willin, and support your family.” AV hen he had dismally slouched out, the chairman put the question, and “ the Single state ” was carried nem. dis. — Sydney paper.
