The steamer Rosiria'will leave for Waiapri this morning with the Directors of the Southern Crgss Petroleum C’ompany. Several private, passengers, and two representatives of the fbcal press are also going on a special visit to the Company’s ground sit Rotokautuku. The party is expected to return to* morrow night or Friday morning. . We learn that the Pollard Pinafore Company are tinder engagement to play in Gis-l jorne, for a season of 4 nights, ccomipencing on Saturday the 27th inst., full particulars of, which will be duly announced. In stating this we may supplement it by remarking that the community is under a great obligation: to Mr. Montague Smith who has generously given.up the possession of McFarlane’s Hall for the night fixed for his Fancy Dress Ball; the 30th August, and has authorised us to give notice to that effect,' in brder to prevent inconvenience or disappointment to his guests By this act. of courtesy Mr. Smith has laid the community under a great obligation to him, as without the the company must have gone on, and all of us missed what we have read of as being.a great treat. We therefore thank Mr. Smith in the name of both town and country settlers alike.
