Messrs. Bourke & Smith will sell at their mart to-day, a section at Matawhero, fowls and other things. In consequence of the delay of the steamer the usi a’ services will be held in the Roman Catholic Church on Sunday next. Messrs. Pitt & Bennett sell to day by auc ion a spring cart at noon, and (some pure Brahma Pootra fowls, oranges &c., at 2 o’clock.
Messrs. Bourke & Smith notify that they 1 ave for sale some prime potatoes of Canterbury growth, and Otago grown oats ; also to a r ve, a fine sample of the celebrated Derwent seed potato. Three of Mr. Allan McDonald’s homes, “ Foul Play,” “ Badsworth,” and “ The Squire,” left Gisborne by the Te Anau last night for Napier. We believe they are to take part in the forthcoming Spring Meeting in Hawke’s Bay.
Messrs. Bourke & Smith will hold their usual monthly cattle sale at Waerenga-a-hika on Monday next, and they announce several lots of prime beeves, heifers, steers, cows, &c., will be offered for competition.
The Rev. J. Me Ara will deliver the fourth lecture of the series on Free Thought and Christianity in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cnurch next Sabbath. Mr. McAra’s subject f>r that evening is to be “ What has the Bible done for the World or the Influence of Christianity.” These lectures hitherto have been-largely attended, and we liave no doubt the interest still continues.
