TELEGRAMS.
(from our own correspondents). Wellington, August 8. The Cook of the s.s. Stormbird, who was arrested yesterday was brought before the Magistrate to-day, charged with being concerned in stealing a box of silver coin from the Stormbird. He was remanded until tomorrow. The box was discovered at Wanganui by Detective Sullivan untouched. He arrested three other men who were in the galley with the cook at the tifuc the box of coin was stolen.
McGarry, the cook of the Stormbird, who was charged with the robbery of the silver coin from that boat, was brought up before the Court, to-day, and remanded until Thursday. Mr. Fitzherbert appeared as Counsel for the prisoner. Dr. Hanrathy was charged before the R.M., Wairarapa, with causing the death of an infant child by pouring hot water over its extremities. The charge was dismissed, the magistrate stating that the coroner should have committed prisoner for trial, and it was yet open for him to do so.
