(from our own correspondents). .:. < » / East Coast Land Company’s Directory Formed. Wellington, July 29. At a meeting of the Provisional Directors of the East Coast Land Company held yesterday, the Hon. Mr. Reynolds in the chair, Messrs. Dargaville, Clarke, Allan McDonald, Poynter, DeLatour, J. S. M. Thompson, Wiremu Pere and Major Ropata, were elected managing directors, for the next 12 months. Paora Parau attended and said the Natives cordially agreed with the formation of the Company ; and that large blocks of land were ready to be handed over. Mr. Thompson said no difficulty should arise with the Native Land Court, as when a similar application was made in connection with the WellingtonManawatu Railway Company, the Government overcome the difficulty. The share list closes in August. In a collision between the vessels Australind and Neptune at the Heads to-day, both vessels were seriously injured.
