THE promoters of this undertaking ai fully impressed with the idea that th time has arrived for the profitable establish ment of a company to provide the Boroug with Gas. They are fortified in their opinio by that of Mr. E. B. Parsons, of the Aucl land Gas Co., Mr. J. R. George, of th Wellington Gas Co., and of other practici men. Some valuable statistics have also bee obtained by personal canvass, which conch sively show that the proposed company business will commence with a demand to th extent of at least 10,000 cubic feet per diem which will be a dividend-paying quantity. The Directors have several sites under the consideration, the conditions of which aresuitable water frontages for shipping, wit position for ready access to consumers. It is proposed to erect works suitable f< manufacture of Gas from Coal, and to ha’ also the small additional plant necessary fi utilising the Gas developed in the nianufa ture of Anti-friction Grease and Paraffin fro the mineral lately discovered in the Soul Pacific Petroleum Company’s ground, the la experiments having proved its suitability as Gas-making material. The development of this industry from tl latter material may therefore become one great importance to the district, and sliou satisfactory arrangements be made with t Directors of the South Pacific Petroleu Company, the Gas necessarily evolved fro the manipulation of the Paraffin mineral c be saved to the benefit of the consumers ai laboring population.
