It is understood that Messrs Brogden and Sons have filed a petition of right in the Supreme Court, claiming against the Colony the sum of £256,754. The total value of the gold and silver yield of the world for the three years ending 1879 was £14(5,943,000. The heaviest yield was from the United States, and Russia comes next.
