CORRESPONDENCE.

[We do not hold ourselves responsible for opinions expressed bp our correspondents], OU R CEMETERY. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I took stroll to the cemetery at Makaraka, some little time ago. I notice that the Committee are getting a good deal of clearing done on the burying ground, and a lot of pegging off. They must be looking out for the perihelia disasters. I doubt the wisdom of pegging out ground so newly cleared of briars, as briars are hard to exterminate, and the pegging expense will be likely to be money thrown away.. I got the length of the monument in memory of those killed by the rebels. The little plot that surrounds the monument is deplorable to look at —a wilderness of briars and neglected. It is a standing disgrace to the Old Identities. I consider that this plot and monument should be under their special care, and it is their hands alone that should keep it trim and in repair. I do not wish to say much upon this subject, but the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw the plot, was, I am glad my name is not on the list of Old Identities. I beg to suggest to those in authority that the graves of strangers be kept clear of briars ond weeds, and let the grass and green grow on them. It would cost very little,. and would look more creditable to all concerned.—l am, &c., New Identity.
