But as a counterpoise to these troubles we may state that the paraffin discovery has aroused the Directors to action. From what we learn an analysis has been made of the crude samples sent over by Mr. Berry, and the result, although not communicated is, we believe satisfactory. We gather this much from telegraphic instructions received by Mr. Berry to take such steps as he may deem advisable to develop the capaciousness of the paraffin field. In this matter Mr. Berry, we know, will not lose valuable time. He will visit the ground again shortly, lay off a few paddocks, and set a body of men to work. With this view he has already entered into contracts for the supply of the necessary timber ; and if his report is favorable as to the permanency of the yield, it will be stolid indifference, allied with culpable neglect of the Shareholders’ interests, if the Directors do not send one of their number over, and set to work with an earnestness admitting of no doubt.
