Football.
The proposal which was mooted some time ago to send a football team to England has now taken definite shape. As far as present arrangements go the players to represent New South Wales are Messrs. M‘Namara (2), O’Brien, Rush, Thompson, Phillips, Barry, King, and Dargin. Eight players will probably be selected from the Victorian clubs, and three from New Zealand. Several of the New South Wales contingent left for Melbourne by the Rodondo yesterday, and the remainder will follow on Friday in the Leura. The fixtures for the Colonies will probably be as follows : —May 7, against Geelong ; May 14, against Hotham ; May 21, against Melbourne May 28, against Ballarat ; and on June 4, against Hotham. The team will then proceed to New Zealand for a five weeks’ tour, and thence come on to Sydney. Melbourne will be revisited subsequently, and the team, after playing in Adelaide, will proceed to India and England. It may be mentioned that the enterprise is a cooperative affair, and is not arranged under the auspices either of the Southern Rugby Union or the New South Wales Football Association. — Sydney Mail.
