Meeting of Creditors.

A meeting of creditors in the estate of Mr. A. F. Hardy was held in the Court-house, yesterday, having been adjourned from the previous day. There was a goodly number of creditors present. Mr. A. Graham was voted to the chair. Messrs. W. K. McLean and Carlaw Smith were proposed as Trustees. Mr. Nolan objected to the proof pul in by lhe Bank of New Zealand, on the ground that the claim did not set forth the particulars as required by the Act. Mr. Matthews explained, and Mr. Nolan was proceeding to discuss several law points, but the ere ditors objected, and said the ruling of the Chairman should decide the point, and leave the legality of any claims to be investigated by the Trustee. The Chairman said it was not proper for him to be called upon to judge of so important a subject. If Mr. Matthews had sworn to what was not correct, the Trustee would see to the matter in due course. The claim was then admitted. The Chairman gave the result of the voting as follows:—For Mr. Smith, 17 in number, and £2,299 16s lOd in value; for Mr. McLean, 13 in number, and £2,461 19s in value. Therefore, there was no election. A lengthy discussion took place, on the position of affairs, and the meeting was again adjourned to Monday next, at 3 o’clock.
