London, March 25. Parnell ia actively engaged in the formation of a Land League in England, and is organising branches in various parts of the country through the medium of sympathisers with Irish land agitation. The wool sales terminated to-day. The closing lots catalogued comprised 2,900 bales, and demand was shown for most descriptions. The total quantity sold during the series was 220,000 bales, and 29,000 bales have been held over for next series. It is rumored that the Hon. Mr. Gladstone is about to resign office as Chancellor of the Exchequer, and that he will be succeeded by the Right Hon. H. C. E. Childers, now Secretary of State for War, while the Marquis of Hartington, Secretary for India, will succeed Childers as Secretary for War. Mr. Gladstone will continue to hold office as First Lord of the Treasury. In the case of Clark v. Bradlangh, an action brought against the member for Northampton for illegally taking his seat in the House of Commons, judgment has been given for the plaintiff in the main question. Since the decision Bradlaugh has absented himself from the House, and Gorst has given notice of his intention to move that a new writ be issued for Northampton. Bradlaugh offers to resign his seat and seek re-election. In the divorce suit Farrel v. Powell, in which the petitioner sought to obtain divorce from his wife on the ground of adultery, the Court condemned the co-respondent, Captain Powell, master of the Orient steamship Lusitania, to pay £5OO damages. Melbourne, March 28. A telegram from Galle announces that the P. and 0. Company’s steamship Hydaspes lias sailed from that port for Australia. Amongst the passengers is Mr. Marshall Wood, the well-known sculptor. Adelaide, March 28. The Advertiser nays the present is the worst wheat harvest in Adelaide for ten years. The total yield is estimated at nine million bushels, leaving five millions available for export.
