Native Land Court.

Tim consideration of the case of the Pouawa block in the Native Land Court, yesterday, was on the request of Mr. Rees, adjourned till Monday week in order to await the return of Judge Heale from Wellington, whither His Honor proceeded yesterday, to attend the sitting of Senate of the New Zealand University ; it being considered advisable that the case should be concluded before the two Judges who have considered it hitherto. On the previous day, Thursday, an application had been made to have the 12,000 acres in question vested by unanimous consent of the owners in six of the owners as agreed upon, a course with which their Honors had, on that day, expressed their concurrence, but upon its coming before the Court it was found that two persons had been induced by outside influence to express their dissent. In these circumstances it was deemed advisable to obtain the formal written authority of the owners to whatever course may now be taken, and to cut off the dissentients, by another sub-divi-sion. We understand that at a meeting of the owners since held, much indignation was expressed at the action of the dissentients, the great body of the owners being determined on enabling Mr. Rees to carry out the arrangements made for the settlement of Mr. Reed’s special party.
