MYSTERIOUS SUICIDE.
The Liverpool Coroner held an inquest recently, on the body of a man unknown, who committed suicide at the North-Western Hotel, in that city, a short time ago. The deceased on that day drove to the hotel in a cab, and engaged a bed-room for the day, saying he had been travelling all night, and wanted to sleep. He spoke in French. At half-past six in the evening the bed-room was entered by a joiner, who found the deceased lying on the floor in front of the fireplace, shot through the head. A five-cham-bered revolver was found lying at hand, two of the chambers of which were destroyed. About £l5 was found upon him, but a quantity of paper appeared to have been burnt in the grate, as though to destroy traces of his identity. The jury returned an open verdict.
