Stehmship" Company of New Zealand have made application to have the shares of their English register officially quoted on the London Stock Exchange. This is a good move now money is so cheap, and we hope soon to see their shares quoted at par. Messrs. Denny, of Dunbarton, are the principal holders in England. An interesting item to Island merchants will be the departure from England of a vessel direct for Fiji. The passenger clipper Lanarkshire, 1,600 tons, is to leave for Levuka direct, in December. Fares : 40 guineas saloon, intermediate, 16 guineas. It is mentioned as being a fine opportunity for passengers to proceed to this rising British Colony. So the Government of New Zealand have done well to encourage steam communication between Levuka and Auckland.
