Some centuries ago in London, Sir William Walworth stabbed Wat Tyler, and to commemorate the event, a dagger was emblazoned on the city arms. Some months ago in Gisborne, after the agent for a Dunedin brewer asserted in the public press the superiority of his ale he was challenged by the local Brewer for a wager of ten pounds, to produce an ale equal to that manufactured in Poverty Bay. Cook County. r1 1 AKE NOTICE, the Valuation List for COOK COUNTY, for the year 1881, is now open for inspection, at the office of the Cook County Council, Gisborne. All objections thereto must be left at the Court House, Ormond, on or before the 15th day of February 1881, addressed to the Assessment Court; a copy of every objection affecting the interests of any other person, than the objector, must be left at the office of the Council, 14 days before the sitting of the said Court; and a copy of all other objections must be left at the office of the Council, not less than 7 days before the next sitting of the said Court.
