Twenty pounds reward are offered by Mr Caulton, of Conibermere, for the discovery of the rascal or rascals who removed some nuts, from his new reaping machine. To the act is unneigliborly is putting itf ’mildl’y ; for we' could hardly think that any one within many hundred miles’ range of Poverty Bay, could have been guiltyof such adfitestable piece of malicious villainy. The reward is a substantial one, and we trust will have the desired effect. Patutahi Block. —Intelligence came to hand ou Thursday last that the Government purpose putting the Patutahi Block into the market, in the course of a few weeks. Pending the erection of the bridge, this sale should be protested against by every man in the place who is really a well wisher,,and do not desire to see the laud monopolised and given away. A round robin should be addressed to the Government at onee on the matter. On Thursday last Messrs Berry and Morgan placed a communication from the Government at our disposal, in which it was intimated to them, that the tenders were all too high and that “ a modification in the specification aud site will be made, and fresh tenders called for.” This should be seen to at once, as any material alteration in the site, and carrying capacity of the bridge may ba a very serious evil, more than the saving of a few paltry pounds in its construction will be a good.
