Austria, on the motion of Hungary, has informed Russia that if she continues to send troops and officers to assist Servia, Hungary will send at once 20,000 men. President MacMahon has made a tour of France. He met with a good reception. Meetings are still being held in England to protest against the conduct of the Turkish troops in Servia and Bulgaria, and the existence of the Turkish Empire iu Europe. The body of Mr Bernard, the tourist, lost on the Cumberland hills, has been found.
The Hon. J. Bruce Norton has accepted the offer of Sir Salar Jung to go out to Hyderabad as superintendent of judicial reform in the Deceau. Mr Norton, it is added, will receive £15,000 for three years’ service.
SYDNEY. November 13 Rush challenged Trickett to row for the championship. The prohibition against the introduction of sheep from Victoria otherwise than by sea, has been extended for three months.

The extraordinary case at Alfred Hospital, where a forceps and sponge were sewn up iu the body of a woman after an operation, has been enquired into by a coroner and jury, who acquitted the operative surgeon of blame, but the matter is very much talked about and commented
The new Academy of Music, which opened on Monday, is very elegant. The Theatre Royal Opera Company arrived by the St. Osyth, and Miss Catherine Lewis (prima donna) has arrived under engagement to Lyster.
