Spanish Flattery. — A Spaniard, speaking of a lady’s black eyes, . said that they were in mourning for I the murders they had committed. Sir Julius Vogel.—A facetious correspondent writing to the Auckland Star says:—Julius Vogel is anxious to get home because he has been asked to accept the Sultanship, vice Abdul Hamed, who is cracked. It is said Vogel has already prepared a scheme to pay off Turkey’s National debt, by a grand lottery. ' A few million shares will be reserved for New Zealand. He has also announced a scheme for exporting all the Servians and Bulgarians to Auckland He has w itten to the Grand Vizier that he is disgusted with New Zealand, and intends to float the Polynesian Company here. Vogel expressly stipulates that he is to have his pick of Abdul Aziz's and Abdul a| Hamed's harems. The following will be the new Ministry when Sultan Vogel ar- < fl rives :—Grand Vizier. J. M. Dsrgavillc ; s’ Grand Seraskier, Captain Casey; Keeper j of the Eunuch’s Billy Rowe ; Commander-in-Chief. Captain Bnrns ; Poet Laureate, John Blackman; Royal Physician, Star Doctor.
