Airs Stanliopo, Mr and Mrs Ferguson senior, Messrs Moore, and Torr. 12—Jane Douglas, s.s. Capt. Fraser, from Napier with a general cargo nnd the following passengers. Miss Wilson. Messrs W. Teat, Wilson, Bullock, and two natives.

Hanson, H. Davis. Wallace. J. A. Wilson, and Mohi Turei and son. 13— Jane Donglas. s.s., Capt. Fraser, for Napier, with a general cargo, and the following Passengers — Mr Mrs and Miss McKenzie, Mr and Mrs Berry, Mrs Wilson, Messrs Chatfield, Leach, Willshire, Siddons, Burnett,, and Barlow’s Circiis Troupe (10). The Agnes Donald will not come to Poverty Bay. having been chartered for the South Sea Islands. The schooners Nymph and Thistle, are expected from the Bay of Islands with coal for this port. The Opo'iki is expected from Napier with coals ex Newcastle ship at Hawke s Bay. for R. G. Gibbons. The Pretty Jane arrived at Auckland on Thursday evening last at seven o’clock. The Liverpool ship San Raphael was burnt off Cape Horn. The crew was saved after fearful sufferings. The Advance left Lyttleton with a full load of flour, oats, potatoes, &c. on Monday last for this port. Hie Jane Douglas will make a special trip, starting on Tuesday next, for the convenience of intending visitors to the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural Show. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received news of the sailing of the Hurunui, for IVellington, and the Cardigan Castle, for Lyttelton, prior to the 15th September, with immigrants. We ( Wellington Post) understand that Captain Lloyd, late of the s.s. Taranaki, takes command of the s.s. Wellington, vice Captain Carey, who takes command of the s.s. Taupo. The friends of these two gentlemen will be glad to learn of their promotion to such positions in the Union S.S. Company. The preliminaries of a contract have been arranged- with Messrs. Green, of Blackwall, for a monthly line of steamers via the Cape of Australia, of 4,000 tons burden, doing the outward passage in forty-four days. The Board of Admiralty have instructed Commodore Hoskins to report as to the suitableness of New Zealand coal for naval use on the Pacific Station. ENGLISH SHIPPING. London. August 17. Sailed —White Eagle, for Otago, August 6, with 31 passengers: Ocean Mail, for Wellington, August 24. To Sail—For Canterbury ; Rangitikei, August 30; Cardigan Castle, September 27 ; Vai paraiso, September 7. For Otago and Bluff; Avona, August 30; Otaki, September3o. For Napier and Bluff; Waifara, September 30.
