GLOBE COMBINATION TROUPE.

As announced, the members of this company gave their first performance in the Music Hall on Saturday evening last, and we feel convinced that they and the audience were-alike gratified. The Hall was full to overflowing, and everything passed off with evident satisfaction. On Jlonday and Tuesday nights the Hall was similarly filled, and the most hearty testimony of delighted audiences was accorded to the several performers. Mr and Mrs Hart are a host in themselves. The gentleman possesses a powerful and pleasing voice, which he knows well how to use to the best advantage, while' the charming naivete of the lady won her many admirers. Her character songs, "Not before Pa," " Tooral Laddie.” “Jolly Little Grenadier,” “Marching through the Mall,” and many others, were greeted with vociferous encores, and her step dancing, particularly with the skipping rope, shews her to be an artiste possessing great versatility of talent. Miss Harrison has a pleasing voice, and an archness of manner, which, in the sentimental line of business, are very captivating. Professor Henneeki afforded a fund of amusement as a prestigiator. His tricks, although not new nor wonderful, answered their purpose of fixing the attention of his audience, and caused much wonderment as to the “ ways and means ” by which they were accomplished. His needle and cotton trick was a performance in itself. The aerial suspension of a young lady (Miss Stella) who seemed to go through the process very kindly, was, as an example of illusory art, remarkably good. Clairvoyance was not mentioned in the bills, but the professor made several “ passes ’’ over his subject’s face, which apparently had a mesmeric effect, during the continuance of which she was draped in costumes representing England, Ireland, Scotland, and America. Mr J. Moran, was, as of old, excessively droll, and he gave several of his inimit-

able character songs, which were vociferously received. Mr Hart is, we believe, a composer and musician of no mean order. His “ German Clariouette ” song in character, with variations on “ Sweet Spirit come and hear Mine Prayer,” is a thing to be remembered ; and the several duetts in which he, and his “ dear little wife ” — as he very properly delights to call Mrs Hart—appeared, place them in the front rank of their profession. We congratulate Mr Hegarty on the possession of a troupe, which encompasses a talent rarely to be met with. A matinee takes place this afternoon for schools and children, and a capital programme is up for to-night, which will probably be the last performance of this really excellent troupe in Gisborne.
