PORT OF POVERTY BAY. arrivals. SEPTEMBER. 15—Pretty Jane, s.s., Captain Helander, from Napier, with cargo and passengers. 'DEPARTURES: SEPTEMBER. 15— Pretty Jane, s.s., Captain Helander for Auckland, with miscellaneous cargo, and the following passengers : —Mr and Mrs Featon, Messrs Dee, Cussin, Aickin, Cox, W. Adair, and H. Boylan. The Advance sailed yesterday Tot Lyttleton with 43,000 feet timber, from King’s Mill. ‘The Pretty Jane arrived from Napier early yesterday morning and steamed for Auckland at 9 o’clock. The Opotiki got away yesterday with a fair wind to Napier, she took 25,000 feet timber from Mr King’s Mill. The Rangatira is announced to steam for Napier and Wellington, this day. Captain Chrisp informed us that his soundings yesterday gave 8 feet of water ■on the bar. The Schooner Advance is laid on the 'berth as a regular trader between this port and Lyttelton. The Opotiki also will continue to run to Napier. We are' glad to find that Mr King’s enterprise in the export timber trade is thus far satisfactory. The steamer Taiaroa has changed her colors, the long-pending negociations for her purchase by the Union Company having terminated inthatcompany taking her over. We Otago Times, understand that the price was £20,000, and we are of opinion that she is honestly worth it. The Taiaroa will constitute a valuable addition to the company’s fleet. She is a first-class vessel, and always up to time in her passages.
