We, 37. Z. Herald, learn that an application is about to be made from Poverty Bay, to the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, for a portion of the salmon ova expected to arrive from California in November next. The Waipaoa and Taruheru rivers in Poverty Bay are admirably adapted for piscatorial purposes. The Restoration of Waikato. —Mr. Tairoa moved recently in the House “ That the request made by Tawhiao for a restoration of portion of the Waikato should be given effect to by the House.” In the course of his remarks he said the Waikato natives spoke of fighting if the land was not given them.
