(FROM OUR AUCKLAND. September 11. With the ’Friscomail which arrived this morning, Dr. Hector was a passenger. The Indian war is still raging at Dakota ; additional troops have been sent to subdue the Sioux tribes of Indians. Atrocities of a revolting character are detailed in connection with this war. The ’Frisco papers repudiate the idea of sending the big mail steamers down the New Zealand coast, and advocate Auckland as the terminus. Colonel Haultain is likely to be appointed to the office of Sheriff at Auckland. .Great preparations are being made for the ensuing Agricultural and Pastoral Society to be held near Auckland. Grey’s action against the Ministry is highly approved of here. The election of City Councillors is expected to be keenly contested. Captain Diaz of the schooner Dart, was drowned on Sunday, in the Hauraki Gulf; the body has not yet been found. New goldfields at Ohinemuri are reported.
