Ladies' Express.

[The Editor will be glad to give insertion to any local contributions from his ladyfriends * that may. be considered.interesting in.any family circle, or. to the sex, generally}: - ' !0: AFTER THE HANCE, By Jove! how delightful she looked, half reclining, Above the dark balustrade, after the dance ; Her presence alone on that landing enshrining The spot where she stood With:tinge of romance. . With her !ips all aflame with a roguish temptation, Her cheeks slightly touched with a roseate ■flush, u -j Except when tbev blossoiued with quick animation To overcharged ripeness at every blush. The murmur of music combining,to render . Her very surroundings more hallowed and bright While her eyes flashed around with a glorious splendour; Or languished in oceans of liquid delight. So I Stood, half-entranced, bn the staircase above her, And thought her an image of tangible bliss, And ■' if man could behold and not lovelier; ‘ ■■■■/.' ■: - " •' And, Wondering —wandered-—and so, stole a kiss! ' Through a vista of years half-forgotten and .. .faded, ; Far down through the dim past do I still . see that face, And still feel the glow of the love, that invaded The depths of our souls in. that one swift embrace! Ah me! brightest joys are for ever the fleetest, The pleasantest cup we soon drain to the lees, And fruit that is stolen is mostly the sweetest; For—now 1 can kiss her whenever I please !

The model we saw of cashmere was trimmed with one row of wide, and five rows of very narrow braid ; narrow cashmere plisse round the edge; small collar, finished with a bow of gros-grain ribbon, and similar bows upon the sleeves. Another kind of paletot, also very fashionable, is tight-fitting, and very short at the back. In front it is curved so as to remain open both at the top and bottom, and coming down in two long points. Large bow, with drooping bows and lapels to finish the basque at the back. Square pocket on either side, trimmed with black faille. All the front part is trimmed with tabs of gros-grain silk. Coat sleeves, with deep revers, also trimmed to correspond. A vi.wte of black faille is trimmed round tbe edge with thistle fringe. There is a square poeket quite at the back, with a bow of gros-grain ribbon on cither side. Buttons of black silk passementerie, and bows upon the sleeves. The echarpe paletot, coming down in two long square lappets in front, is also in great' tavor, either in cashmere or silk.
