THE LATE MRS. WILSON, NAPIER.

At the' opening of the session of the Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, at Christchurch, on the Bth fast., the Rev. A, Shepherd,' Hawke’s Bay, said: — “ Moderator I wish to call the attention of the Assembly to the loss which not only we iu Haw ke’s Bay, but this Church in general, has sustained in the death of Hie late Mrs. Josias Wilson. This lady was one of the warmest friends and heartiest supporters of our Church. Though 'of four-score years she took a lively interest in the matters that were to come before this Assembly, especially the question of union with Otago.,■ I am sure had she been spared to bear the tidings none rejoiced more than she at the friendly, and, I trust, auspicious turn which that subject has taken. She was, however, called to enter on her rest ten days before we met. If not out of order I would- move that this Assembly engross in their minutes their sense of the great service which the late Mrs. Wilson rendered to the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, their regret at her loss, and their sympathy with her bereaved friends. The motion was supported by Mr. Sidey and several other members, and unanimously agreed to; and the clerk was instructed to send a copy to Mrs. Wilson's relatives.”
