December 13. The Secretary was instructed to correct the rate book in favor of Messrs. Norris, Goldsmith,-Graham, and Horsfall) they having beeiTTated for property not in their possession. Mrs. Langford was exempted from payment of this year’s rate in consequence of inability to pay the same. It was decided, on the application of Mr. Oskar Beyer, that his house should be removed from off Read's quay, at his own convenience. Mr. Chute's tender for spreading metal at 3s 6d a yard was rejected. The Engineer was instructed to place the two-day labor men on the Matawhero road for one week. The Board decided that the metal in the township should be carted to beyond Fagan town prior to being broken up. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with the Minister of Public Works relative to a refund of £250. Mr. Boland’s offer to maintain that portion of road at Ormond known as contract C, in repair for £1 a week was accepted. The Board decided to fence in the ground ou which its offices stand. Mr. Dunean Fraser, and Mr. J. Villers applied to object to rates; but were informed that the objection list was closed. The Secretary was instructed to inform the ferryman (Mr. Shearer) that the practice of soliciting for goods being landed at the Gisborne ferry must be discontinued, also todraw Mr Adair’sattentipn to the dangerous state of the lower wharf. The Secretary was also authorised to write forthe Superintendent's concurrence in the proposed alteration of the line of fencing on Bead’s quay. The Collector forwarded the sum of £254 17s amount of rates collected bv him.
