Visit of the Bishop of Waiapu to TaUBANGA. —The Bay of Plenty Times of the 3rd instant says: “ Notice was given on Sunday last that the Bishop of Waiapu would visit Tauranga during the present month to consecrate the Church. We have it on good authority that the Bishop has fixed Sunday, the 14th, for the consecration, and intends to leave Napier by coach on the sth inst., spending Sunday, the 7th, at Taupo, coming on to Rotorua on the Monday, visiting the Lake district ou Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 'i arrxkng here on the Friday by Mr. Hanon’s coach. We understand his Lordship purposes paying Opotiki a visit daring his stay in this district.
Knighting The Agent Genebai — The Wellington Post says there is every probability that a higher grade than he now occupies in the Order of St. Michael and St. George will shortly be conferred on the Agent-General, who will then be Sir Isaac Earl Featherston K.C.M.G. The Bay of Plenty Times state* that ruit trees in that district are suffering more or less from a species of blight which, is making its appearance on the young branches and eating into the heart of the wood. The blight, so far as we understand, is of a different nature to that hitherto met with. Those who are interested in the Arctic Expedition will like to know that Sir Charles Wheatstone has invented for the use of the expedition an instrument for telling the time in the dark, which will be very welcome in the long Northern winter. The invent! on "is due to some adaptation of the polarisation of light.
