Sire Horses. To stand this season, at Combermere, the thorough-bred stallion DAINTY ARIEL. IT would be well for sporting men and owners of brood mares to remember that this cross has proved most successful in the racing world in England. Eclipse, the founder of the strain, was never beaten, and in seventeen months won upwards of £25,000. He was afterwards used for the stud, and was the sire of the extraordinary number of three hundred and thirty four winners, who netted for their owners upwards of £160,000. Riddlesworth, the sire of Dainty Ariel, ran second in the Derby, and won the 2000 Guineas in Englund. In Australia the Barb and Yattenden were both first-class champions on the course, and at the stud they have also been very successful, Yattenden being the sire of 62 winners la>t year. In New Zealand the same strain of blood has been very good. These were Hurricane, Dainty Ariel, Doch-en-doris, Isleman, Y&tterina, Volunteer, and Maori Weed. Dainty Ariel has proved himself a sure foal-getter in this district, the whole of the Mares put to him last season being in foal. Terms—£4 4s for single mares; two or more, as per agreement. Every care taken with mares, but no responsibility. Paddocking free for one month, after that time 2s 6d per week will be charged. All fees to be paid on removal of mares. S. C. To stand this season, in Mr. Breingan’s firstclass paddocks, at Waerenga-a-hika, the imported Thoroughbred Entire Horse ‘CORSAIR.” / is a bright Chestnut, about 17 hands high, foaled in 1871, bred by the well-known breeder Mr. Alexander, of Lindinow, Gippsland. Got by Smuggler, dam Quickstep, by Bronzewing, g.d. Duchess by Pioneer. Smuggler by Fisherman, dam Midnight by South Australian, g.d. Young Moonshine by Egremont, out of Moonshine by Theorem. As a two-yeur-old, Corsair won the Nursery Stakes at Sale, Gippsland, and the following year the Leger, beating a large field of horses in each instance. He is as sound as a bell, of great bone and substance, and unequalled in temper. As a sire for racing, carriage and hack stock, he is unequalled. Terms : £3 10s for each mare ; two or more, the property of the same owner, as per agreement. Every care taken with mares, but no responsibility incurred.
