DAINTY ARIEL.

[ADVERT IS EMENT.] TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The following extract from a letter writ ten by Mr. O. C. M’G-ee (the well-known Otaliuhu trainer) will prove interesting to owners of brood stock.-—Yours, &c., S. C. CAULTON. My hurdle mare Kate gave these people a dressing the other day. She ran eight miles over timber, stone walls, and ditches, carrying 12st 11b. Site is by Dainty Ariel. Saunterer (another Dainty) ran second. Tell Mr. Caulton all the “ Dainty’s ” jump, and it is a great feather in the old horse’s cap that two of his gets were first and second, beating the celebrated Rarey and cracks from VVanganni and Canterbury. Tell Mr. Caulton I won the Auckland Maiden Plate with the Maori Weed, beating a field of ten from all parts of New Zealand—amongst them a mare (Lady Florence) bred by Stafford of Nelson, that, was sold afterwards for £5OO I like old Dainty. I owned his full brother. I know more of the horse, and his sire and dam, and grandsire and granddam, and their performances in England and Australis, than any person in the colony. Dainty was never beaten on the turf when fit. He stood his ground against the flower of the South, carrying weights more fit for a paekhorse than a racehorse. Had he no other recommendation but his tough and sinewy legs of iron, which carried him safely through all campaigns, that would speak volumes in his favor.—Yours, Ac., 723 O. 0. M’GEE.
