POUT OF POVERTY BAY ARRIVALS. OCTOBER. DEPARTURES. OCTOBER. The Pretty Jane left Auckland on Monday afternoon, and will, probably arrive in port tbit* evening. The -LfUe Meikle was towed out yesterday bv the Lily launch, and proceeded to sea at once. The Advance will proceed to Auckland via th- coat-t to-night. This week promists to be busy in the arrival of steamers, Pretty Jane and Wellingfrom Auckland, and Rangatira from Napier and Wellington are announced to arrive early. The Rangatira should bring the Suez Mail. English Shipping. —The London correspondent of the Hitw Zealand Herald writes : — On the 21st July, the first of the fine new vessels being built, by Messrs. Palmer and Co. in Yarrow-on-1 yue, to the order of the New Z-nland Shipping Company (Limited). was launched, and named the Orari by a neice of the Hon. J. Hall, she is a fine, handsome model, ship rigged with a full poop to aceoni modal e 25 first class passengers, with a teak houke on the quarter-deck fur the use uf the oflice/s. Dimensions :? —Length, 185 feet ; breadth, 31 feet; depth of hold, 20 feet 1 inch. Classes ami construction, IOUA nt Lloyd’s, and was built under special survey ; net tonnage 1008, gross 1057 tone. This vessel has all the latest improvements in naval architecture, including a watertight bulkhead in front of the poop, which is of iron. She will be commanded by Captain Fox, and leaves Tyne at the end of the present- month for London where she will load, for Canterbury, sailing about the 2tXh of September. 'I he second ship will be launched on the 19th inst., and will be named the Hurunui. She will be similar in every respect to the first.
