The repairs which the cutter Whau are undergoing by Mr Thompson are expected to t - completed to-morrow, when she will have been in a much better condit ion than she was previous to her being stranded at Waipiro. The repairs have ’been so expeditiously executed, that the Whau will be in readiness to ship wool on board the Lochnagar which is expected in this port in a few days. The steamer recently built for our townsman, Mr. Adair, was successfully launched at Auckland on the 13th instant, and is expected h-'rr in ten days hence. She is named the R -ains, and is intended to ply along the coast l ei ween here and Napier, for which trade she is veil adapted. She carries thirty tons dead wi -g‘at, and is consequently larger than any ordinary steam launch. If necessary, she will, we believe, make occasional trips up the coast ae far tie East Cape, calling at intermediate places fur the convenience of the settlers.
