COMMERCIAL
Money is very tight in Wellington at present and according to the Auckland Star's correspondent it would not take much of a financial hitch to bring disaster to a good many small traders. Wages are dropping. One firm who employ a large number of arpenters, and always pay the highest wages going, have lowered the day’s wages from 12s to Ils. About a dozen men struck and are now walking about, others have been found who jumped into their places at once. House rent and provisions exhibit no sign erf reduction yet.
