Eclipse, the founder of the strain, was never beaten, and in seventeen months won upwards of £25,000. He was afterwards used for the stud, and was the sire of the extraordinary number of three hundred and thirty-four winners, who netted for their owners upwards of £160,000. Biddlesworth, the sire of Dainty Ariel, ran second in the Derby, and won the 2000 Guineas in England. In Australia the Barb and Yattenden were both first-class champions on the and at the stud they have also been very successful, Yattenden being the sire of 62 winners last year. In New Zealand the same strain of blood has been very good. These were Hurricane, Dainty Ariel, Doch-en-doris, Isleman, Yatterina, Volunteer, and Maori Weed.
