POET OF POVERTY BAY' ARRIVALS. AUOUST. 19— Pretty Jane, e.s., Captain Helanfler, from Auekhuid, with miscellaneous cargo anti the following passengers : —Mrs. Gibbons, Miss Gibbons, and five children, Mrs. Flock and five children, Messrs. Johnson, McMichael, the hon. Mokena, and several steorage passengers. DEPARTURES. AUGUST. 20— Pretty Jane, s.s., Captain Helander, for Napier. Passengers — Messrs. Frillard J. O’Meara, and Mrs. Batcher.

The Pretty Jane will return from Napier an Sunday, and will steam for Auckland on Monday evening next. The Pretty Jane steamed for Napier last night. The Queen Bee hence with wool arrived in the Thames on the Ist of June last. The Fernglen sailed from Auckland for London on Saturday 14th inst. The steamer Wellington is announced to make a special trip to Auckland, leaving this port on Sunday next. This will be a capital opportunity for letter correspondence North ami South, as a steamer is to leave the Manakau next Wednesday for Wellington. We are glad to find that the Pretty Jane is able to fill up each trip, with cargo for Gisborne only, shutting out the Napier cargo entirely. This fact may stimulate action towards getting a l>oat for our own trade exclusively, making Poverty Bay the southern terminus. The Company gets the subsidy solely on account of the Gisborne service, and we do not see why Napier should halve the advantage equally with this port. The Southern Crate says that on the 13th inst. the vessels in port and Ihe principal places of business in the vicinity of the wharf were decorated with flags in honour of the marriage of Miss Graham, daughter of Mr. Robert Graham, to Mr. William Cruickshank.
