Nbw Mbmbbr.—We learn on good authority that Mr. W. Kelly, the sitting member, has received a definite promise from the Government that they will support the division of the present electoral district of the East Coast, so as to give Poverty Bay a member of its own. We trust this may be so; but the petition praying for it to be done should be signed as numerously as possible. It will go to Wellington to-day by the Rangatira. R M.’s Court.—-During the proceedings in this Court yesterday, Mr. Wilson took occasion again to draw Dr. Nesbitt’s attention to the great inconvenience experienced by every person having business there, through want of proper accommodation. The Magistrate explained that Mr. Greenwood was about to make requisition to the Government for what was necessary. Tt is to be hoped that suitable arrangements will be made for press reporters at the same time, for with everyone, excepting the Justices, sitting at the same table, the facilities of business are much impeded.
