A CURE FOR TYPHOID FEVER

The Rev. J. O. Stephens, vicar ■ Savernake, writing to the Times sayß —“ On being taken suddenly ijjklß year at Lucerne, and acute of a threatened fever setting in, ifl friends forthwith called in Dr. Steigß who enjoys a considerable reputatifl through Switzerland. He ordered il at once to be what is called ‘ packedH and on my expressing surprise, he saß ‘I am thankful to tell you that tfl doctors of Switzerland aud Germaifl have at least learnt the value of simp! remedial measures. When Bourbakiß army entered Switzerland 1 hal charge of the fever hospital for thl district, and out of 24 patients suffel ing from typhoid fever (two we™ brought in dying) I cured 22 wit h thl application of a wet sheet. I use! neither medicines nor stiifliknts, anl the soldiers recovered ill a very short time. last eight years this been carried on in the Basle Hospital will signal success, reducing in a surpril -sing manner the death rate in thl fever wards. Iu private practice I invariably adopt this system, anil rarely use any whom I have treateJ from the commencement of the fever J I have been particularly successful in puerperal and scarlet fever.
