ROAD BOARD.
Monday, June 14. The Chairman was authorised to communicate with the Provincial Secretary in reference to the £258 grant. Mr. King’s application for two culverts to be erected on the road from the mill to Taruheru creek, was referred to the Engineer to report thereon. A letter was received from the Harbour Master complaining of the unsafe state of the ferry wharf steps. Also one from Mr. Tucker in reference to drain to Waikanae from South boundary. The Board decided that the Waikanae outlet drain be completed by Mr. Daly. Captain Bead to pay £3O towards the work. It was resolved that Mr. Steggall should be informed that the Impounding account must be rendered in terms of the Act. Messrs. Davis, Uren, and Wyllie attended with a request that a road be cut through Tutoko block to main road. Mr. Drummond was instructed to report on the subject.
Dr. Nesbitt made application for tire grant voted for the Waikanae bridge. The Board resolved not to make the grant as the period has lapsed when the offer was made.
The following tenders were accepted : Mr. Gilmore —contract D for 80 chains and 75 links, with drains and formation, Matawhero to beach, at 23s per chain. Contract E, about 30 chains and 25 links, side drains and formations, Matawhero to beach at 28s per chain. Mr. DeMoidrey —for outlet drain, 5d per cubic yard.
